But now the boys from down-under are ready to make an international statement with the release of their eagerly anticipated debut EP. Intriguingly titled Zeus, the pair match their soulful vocals with a brave, genre defying palette of production compiled and composed by the duo. The 11-track-deep EP also samples production work by the likes of Hudson Mohawke and Jamie XX, amongst others, and their unique blend of lo-fi R&B vocals and diverse instrumentation has drawn comparison to a range of international artists, from Phoenix to Drake.

Gavin Correia and Marty Rich; otherwise known as Jupiter Project, aren’t new to the scene in their native New Zealand, where they have played major international festivals such as Rhythm and Vines and also shared stages with the likes of Flume and Will.I.Am. The duo are also known as one of New Zealand’s most prolific song-writers and have recently penned a number of top 10 hits back home.

Their first single off Zeus, Peer Pressure, brings forth a subtle french nu-disco influence, complimented by smooth vocals and intellectually subtle wordplay. After listening to the record, it becomes clear why culture icons like Adidas, Hypebeast and Grammy.com have come on board to support the boys. Be sure to jump on the wagon before it’s too late.

lime cordiale

Friday – Summit Stage
Lime Cordiale
They say there’s an innate bond between siblings, a relationship is forged that can last a lifetime. Now, take that intuitive understanding and translate it into music; magic can happen. Such is the case for brothers Louis and Oli Leimbach, better known as Lime Cordiale. Today, they are just months from releasing their long-awaited debut album, “Permanent Vacation”. But their relationship, connection through music and planet earth, stretches much farther back.

Growing up within a creative, musical family on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, it was natural for the pair to make music together. “Not everyone is born from the genitals of parents that want you to have a life in the arts” says Oli.

Lime Cordiale have played in the US at SXSW and CMJ, plus countless sold out shows and tours across Australia, supporting the likes of Sticky Fingers, Ball Park Music, The Rubens and most recently Bootleg Rascal. Though they haven’t forgot how it all began, Oli tells “many of our shows just feel like parties with our mates” and that theme has been ever-present as the band has developed over the years. Keeping the grass roots vibes strong, the band keep a strong dialogue with their audience on social media, “we seek advice, a bed, a hang out… all sorts of things” Oli continued.

waax

Saturday – Summit Stage
WAAX
“I want to be the voice that I couldn’t hear when I was young.”

It’s a simple yet powerful statement from Maz De Vita, lead singer of Australia’s most electrifying punk band, Waax. And yet, if you look at the way the Brisbane five-piece’s career has evolved throughout the years, it articulates everything perfectly.

When they emerged in the mid-teens, Waax’s early singles, ‘I For An Eye’ and ‘Wisdom Teeth,’ were tinged with the DIY tape hiss and violent, jagged edges you’d expect from a fresh, fierce band. They roared with an intensity and controlled chaos that had been distinctly missing from Australian music for years. The music was brutal, the energy frenetic, and above it all wailed De Vita, barking and biting with both unbridled passion and a subtle, melodic flow to her voice that made you want to scream along one second and sing along the next. It was loud and it was brash – but like most punk acts in their formative stages it was angry at the world in general – at concepts, ideas and politics at large.

west thebarton

Saturday – Summit Stage
West Thebarton
Straight outta the mean streets of Adelaide, West Thebarton have been teetering on the precipice of greatness for some time. In 2016, the band forged themselves into our consciousness with their self titled EP, support slots with the likes of Bad//Dreems, Cloud Nothings and King Gizz, plus appearances at BIGSOUND and Groovin’ The Moo. Reluctant to take their foot off the gas, the band tore right into 2017 adding new drummer Caitlin Thomas to the fray.

An ensuing industry scuffle landed them a management deal with Fidelity Corp (Karnivool, Thelma Plum), and shortly after, self proclaimed super-fan James Tidswell of Violent Soho signed them to his new label, Domestic La La. Committed to tape over just one week, between day jobs, West Thebarton’s 2018 debut album Different Beings Being Different ended up earning countless glowing reviews, an ARIA nomination and spots on the UK’s legendary Reading and Leeds festivals.
